Where are the classes held?

DIRECTIONS TO: Venus Building, ERMS, VP, BES, FES, SRMS, and RHS:

Venus Bldg. = Venus Municipal Building
ERMS = East Ridge Middle School
BES=Branchville Elementary School
FES=Farmingville Elementary School
VP=Veteran's Park Elementary School
RHS = Ridgefield High School
SRMS = Scotts Ridge Middle School


Directions to other locations will be mailed upon receipt of registration and tuition.

Venus Bldg. = Venus Municipal Building (corner of East Ridge and Governor St.) - Continuing Education Office
From Route 35 (Main Street) in Ridgefield, turn onto Governor Street (There is a traffic light). Take Governor Street a short distance (you will cross East Ridge; the Police Station is on the right). Take a left into the parking lot behind the Venus Municipal Building (signs say RVNA - Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Assoc., Kumon Math and some other organizations). Turn into the first parking area on the left. Park as close to the two story brick and white building as possible and enter at the door off Governor St., opposite the Police Station. Continuing Education is on the second floor. There are signs posted. A disability ramp to an elevator to the second floor is available at the rear of this wing of the building.
Do not enter through the front entrance that faces East Ridge because you will not be able to access the part of the building we are in from that entrance.

ERMS = East Ridge Middle School (10 East Ridge Road & Branchville Road – Route 102)

From Route 35 (Main Street) in Ridgefield, turn onto Route 102 (also called Branchville Road).  Take the first left onto East Ridge (if you are coming up 102 from Route 7, take a right onto East Ridge a block before you reach Main Street).  Take a right into the parking lot.  Park as close to the left front door area as possible.  Room numbers will be posted on the brick wall in the front entry area.

BES = Branchville School (40 Florida Road, ½ mile from the intersection of Route 7 & Branchville Road)

From Route 35 (Main Street) in Ridgefield, turn onto Route 102 (also called Branchville Road).  Go almost to Route 7, you will see Ancona’s Market on the right and Florida Road on the left. Take a left on Florida Road.  Pass a couple of houses.  Take a right into the first school lot (near the playground and gym).  The gym is the part of the building closest to the playground.  Enter at the gym entrance (there is a walkway with a couple of steps).  Take a right at the top of the steps into the gym.

FES = Farmingville School (324 Farmingville Road, off Route 35)

From Route 35 in Ridgefield, turn onto Farmingville Road (at the Copps Hill intersection). Head east on Farmingville Road. Go a mile or two. Farmingville School is on the right, just past a white barn. Take a right into the parking lot. Bear left and park in the lot in front of the school. Enter at the front entrance. Class is in the cafeteria. Signs will be posted.

VP = Veteran’s Park School (8 Governor Street)

From Route 35 (Main Street) in Ridgefield, turn onto Governor Street.  Veteran’s Park School is one-half block down on the right (across the street from where Balducci's was).  Take a right into the parking lot.  If the lot is full, please park in the Balducci's lot.  Room numbers will be posted in the front entry area.

SRMS = Scotts Ridge Middle School (750 North Salem Road, aka Route 116)

Coming from the South - From Route 35 (Main Street) in Ridgefield, bear left onto Route 116 (also called North Salem Road). At the intersection of North Salem Road and Ridgebury Road, go left. Then take the first right into entrance for the Middle and High Schools. Go Left for Scotts Ridge Middle School. Park in the lot in front of the school. Use the entrance doors that are more to the right of the front of the building (not the doors closest to the gym). Room numbers will be posted on the glass doors. If you need elevator access, notify Continuing Education 2 weeks before first class.

Coming from the South - From Route 35 (Main Street) in Ridgefield, bear left onto Route 116 (also called North Salem Road). At the intersection of North Salem Road and Ridgebury Road, bear right (straight). Take the first left into the parking lot entrance. Park opposite the wrought iron fence. Walk down the long, straight walk to the glass doors. Room numbers will be posted on the glass doors. The class rooms are on the second floor. If you need elevator access, notify Continuing Education 2 weeks before first class.


Who may attend?

Admission: Enrichment classes are open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Non-residents are welcome. Senior Citizens are those 62 years of age or older. (Sr./Disab.) means discounted fee for senior citizens age 62 and older and people with disabilities WHO LIVE IN RIDGEFIELD, provided that the course they want has sufficient enrollment to sustain the discount. NON-RESIDENTS DO NOT RECEIVE ANY DISCOUNTS.

How do I register?

Registration: You may register by mail or fax (with credit card) anytime, the sooner the better ! Mail registration begins now and is encouraged.

What is the Confirmation, Payment, and Cancellation Policy?  

Confirmation and Cancellation: No news is good news. If you have paid your tuition, assume you are enrolled and plan to attend the class. When you register, we assume that you have put the course date, time, and location on your calendar and have reconciled potential conflicts before you register. We will call you if a course is canceled, full, or relocated. Listen to the radio for inclement weather closings.

  • WHEN YOU HAVE PAID IN ADVANCE, IT LETS US KNOW THAT YOUR PLAN TO ATTEND IS SINCERE.
  • IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID, IT IS YOUR RISK ~ YOU MIGHT SHOW UP AND FIND THAT THE CLASS IS FULL, HAS RELOCATED OR BEEN CANCELLED.    

 

What is the refund policy?

Refunds: You will obtain a full refund, including the registration fee, when Ridgefield Continuing Education cancels a class or the class is full. If you are requesting a refund, we must receive your request for a refund in writing five days before a class starts and we will withhold a $10.00 withdrawal fee and the $7 registration fee, from the amount refunded. Refunds are not available to people who register less than 5 days before a class starts. Medical refunds only will be pro-rated for the remainder of the session when verified by a physician’s note. Requests must be made by letter or email. Due to an extremely heavy workload during the registration period, refunds may take up to six weeks to process.

What if school is closed during the day?

No School: If regular school classes are canceled due to the weather, classes will also be canceled. Cancellations will be announced on AM radio WCBS:880 and WLAD:800 from 5-7 p.m. or call 431-9995 for a recorded announcement.

Do you have access for people with disabilities?

Ridgefield Continuing Education will make reasonable accommodations to assist people with disabilities enrolled in our programs. In order to accomplish this, persons who need assistance must notify Ridgefield Continuing Education of their need in writing 2 weeks prior to the 1st day of class.
