If you are a resident of Ridgefield, Redding, Danbury, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Bethel, or Newtown you may take ESL, Citizenship, CDP, and GED classes free at WERACE in Danbury.

Call WERACE at the Community Resource Center in Danbury at (203) 797-4731 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for information.

Classes are held in Danbury.

* All classes are enrolled on a first come, first served basis.
* Valid photo ID and proof of residency is required. See our FAQ's page for more information.
* Registration for all new students includes a placement test. Please plan on a two hour visit.
* Children are not permitted and there is no child care available.


PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION AND ADDRESS IS REQUIRED !

All students must bring an ID and proof of address to registration. Students ages 17 and 18 must also provide evidence of withdrawal.

For ID: A valid State of CT or Federal photo ID that includes address is preferred, for example a drivers license or consular ID. Drive Only ID's are not accepted. Passports may be accepted if they are valid and accompanied by proof of address.

For Proof of Addrress: A lease, mortgage, utility bill, phone bill, medical bill, bank statement, car registration or insurance card, paycheck stub. Document must be current (within 90 days of registration date).


Credit Diploma Program, GED and ABE (Adult Basic Education):

Call (203) 797-4731 for registration dates in Danbury. Any new student that did not previously attend a Danbury High School must bring a copy of their transcript. All students must bring an ID to registration. Students ages 17 and 18 must also provide evidence of withdrawal. new students are encouraged to call (203) 797-4731 prior to registration to set up an appointment with a guidance counselor.

* New students for CDP and GED programs are encouraged to call us at (203) 797-4731 prior to registration to set up a pre registration appointment with a guidance counselor. Students who did not attend a Danbury high school must bring a copy of their transcript.

Day Classes Registration: 10 Crosby Street, Danbury from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; new students must arrive by 1 p.m.

Evening Classes Registration: Danbury High School, 43 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury from 5 to 8:30 p.m.; new students must arrive by 7 p.m.

Please plan on a 2 hour visit. Registration includes a placement survey. There is no childcare available, and children are not permitted into the building.

Day Registration:
9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury

Evening Registration:
5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Danbury High School, 43 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury (please note that classes are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.)
